Salon POS with card payments: checkout, readers and the day’s close
In Gloora, checkout is part of the booking: cash, card, gift cards and store credit, one tip split across the technicians, refunds and voids. Where card readers are enabled, the amount goes to a Stripe, Clover or Run Payments reader and records itself.
What a salon front desk needs from a POS
Typing every amount twice
When the till and the card terminal don’t talk, the desk types every amount twice, and the mismatch shows up at closing.
One visit, several payers and technicians
A client pays part by card and part by gift card, a friend pays for their own service, and the tip has to reach two technicians.
Closing the day
At the end of the shift, cash, cards and the diary have to agree, and someone has to sign off on any difference.
How checkout works in Gloora, step by step
Define how clients pay you
List your methods — cash, card in person, bank transfer, vouchers — each with an optional reference field (a terminal transaction ID, a voucher code) the desk must fill in.
In the app: Settings → Payments
Collect payment on the booking
Take one or several methods for the visit, split the tip per technician (equally or by service price), and use gift cards and store credit. The receipt lists each method under Paid by.
In the app: Collect payment
Charge the card reader
In workspaces enabled for card readers, choose the branch’s processor: Stripe, Clover (US) or Run Payments (US). The desk pushes the amount, the client taps, inserts or swipes, and the payment records itself with the card brand and last 4 digits.
In the app: Settings → Branches → Checkout & till → Card reader
Refund, void and approve
Refund all or part of a payment (a card-reader payment goes back to the card), void a mistake, and ask a manager to approve wherever the branch requires it.
In the app: Booking → Refund
Count the drawer and close the day
The cash drawer holds an opening float, cash in and out and a counted close; Daily Closure counts the day, and Card payouts shows what the processor paid into the bank and the fee it kept.
In the app: Cash drawer · Reports → Daily Closure · Card payouts
What the POS costs
Checkout, payment methods, gift cards and the cash drawer are part of the core platform on every plan. The Finance Suite adds Daily Closure, Card payouts, the accountant reports and expenses; Retail & Inventory adds the product catalog and stock. Both are included from Premium.

Limits and honest trade-offs
- Card readers are switched on per workspace by Gloora; the Card reader setting appears only once they are enabled.
- Clover and Run Payments readers are offered to US branches only. Run readers have no tip screen, so the tip is typed at the desk.
- Card processing fees are charged by the processor, not by Gloora.
- When the internet drops, the offline desk takes cash and manual methods (such as a card on a separate terminal); card-reader and online card payments wait for the connection.
Questions buyers ask
Which card readers work with Gloora?
Stripe card readers, Clover devices (US branches) and Run Payments readers (US branches), in workspaces Gloora has enabled for card readers. Any other terminal can still be recorded as a card payment with a reference.
Can a client split the bill?
Yes. A visit can be paid by several methods, and on a group booking the desk picks which guest is paying before the card is charged.
How are tips handled at checkout?
One tip for the visit is split across the technicians, equally or by service price, each share tied to its service. The card reader setting chooses whether the tip is typed at the desk or on the reader; Run readers have no tip screen.
Does the receipt show the card?
If the branch chooses so, it reads “Paid by Card reader · Visa •••• 4242”. Gloora never stores or shows the full card number.
What does the salon POS cost?
It comes with every plan. Per location per month: Basic USD 79, Premium USD 129, Own Brand USD 239 on the Global list; EUR 79, EUR 129 and EUR 239 in Europe; AED 299, AED 499 and AED 899 in the UAE.
Does it work offline?
For bookings, walk-ins and cash payments, yes: when the internet drops, the offline desk carries on. Card-reader and online card payments need the connection.
